I just found $100 in the Trash. Do I give it back?
But to who…is this money really mine?

Is this money really mine?
Finding cash is a moral dilemma for me. If I saw the person who dropped it I would give it back without question. If I asked people walking around if it was their money, people would lie.
This happened 2 other times in my life. Once at a Catholic Church in the Caribbean. Santa threw $100 at my feet when I was 8 – 9 years old.
This was too good to be true.
Is this money really mine?
When I saw the crimped up 100 dollar bill at my feet. I stared at it for 10 seconds before another kid grabbed it.
All the other kids were picking up gifts and candy that Santa threw.
I found out later that Santa was my father and that money was meant for me.
The other time, I was walking into a restaurant with my family and I found a crisp 100 dollar bill on the ground of a parking lot.
Other than empty parked cars, no one was around.
Wow $100!?
This was too good to be true.
Is this money really mine?
I shoved the money in my pocket and went inside the restaurant. I contemplated asking the waitress or hostess to ask each table if they dropped $100.
But then my whole family agreed that EVERYONE would claim it.
Who knows if this person was even still in the restaurant.
I didn’t say anything to anyone at the restaurant. I kept it to pay for our meal. But I felt a bit guilty.
Do I give it back…but to who?
Yesterday, All day I’ve been praying to God for financial relief.
Right now, I’m also a waitress helping out at my friends restaurant. I was teaching my 15 year old son how to serve.
So as I was teaching him how to put in the Uber and door dash food orders, he looks down and says,
“Mom, there is $100 in the trash”
There were only 3 other people working at that time. But you know how people are when it comes to unclaimed cash.
I told them a story that I dropped it to test if they did.
They didn’t. I split the money with my kid but
do I give it back…..but to who ?
If I asked people walking around if it was their money, people would lie.

I need to continue to follow my own advice
